F: File Storage for Windows Vista and Windows 7/8 + 10 Operating Systems
A: Read and Write permissions are required for both Windows Vista and Windows 7 Operating Systems. For the accounting data, a directory is to be created, as an example, C:Account.data.
In order that Account Pro can access this data, the directory must be specified under 'Options'/Define the folder of the accounting data files' within the main menu.

Q: Windows Vista: Problems with installing Account Pro, what could be the reason?
A: Windows Vista has the built-in ability to automatically reduce the potential of security breeches in the system. It does that by automatically enabling a feature called User Account Control (or UAC for short). The UAC forces users that are part of the local administrators group to run like they were regular users with no administrative privileges.

    Q: Im working with Windows Vista. If I click F1 for help, the help-programm does not start, what can I do?
    A: The reason for this is in Windows Vista. "WinHlp32.exe is required to display 32-bit Help files that have the ".hlp" file name extension. To view .hlp files on Windows Vista, you need to install this application" - quote Microsoft. You can download the file for free here.

    Q: Although I have entered the registration code, the reports are still printed with a header line reading 'This printout has been produced using a non-licensed copy of Account Pro'. How can I make this line disappear?
    A: Under 'Structure'/'Accounting period' of the main menu you can delete the text in the field 'Main screen title / header line to apperar on all printouts' or replace it by your own text.

    Q1: When I try to install Account Pro I am asked to insert a disk.
    Q2: When I try to install Account Pro an other software is installed.
    Q3: When I try to install Account Pro, even after restarting Windows repeatedly, I get the error message 'Setup cannot continue because some system files are out of date on your system. Click OK if you would like setup to update these files now. You will need to restart Windows before you can run setup again. Click Cancel to exit setup without updating system files.

    A: The above problems occur either because of some files that should not have been left over in your C:Windows (or C:Winnt) folder after a program installation or because some important Visual Basic system files are indeed obsolete on your system. Please delete all *.cab files and also setupa.exe and setup.lst (if there). Then, reboot your computer.

    Q: My existing accounts files were saved onto a CD from the old PC and then copied from there to the new PC. When I try to enter a transaction, I get an error box which says 'Runtime Error 75. Path/File Access Error'.
    A: Please note that any files that have resided on a CD ROM will have acquired the attribute 'write-protected'. You can change the file attributes of your accounts files by means of the Windows Explorer.

    Q: After having entered the User Name and the Unlock Code I get the error message 'You have entered an invalid unlock code or you have entered it in the wrong place'.
    A: The User Name and/or the Unlock Code have not been entered correctly, and/or the Unlock Code has been entered in the wrong entry field. The entries must be exactly as shown on the license document. The Unlock Code is case-sensitive. It is best to copy the User Name and the Unlock Code from the email to the entry form.

    Q: After having had to reinstall Account Pro version 8.2 (my previous version was 7.69t) the system did not accept my unlocking code.

    A: The unlock code has changed after version 7.69w and you are not any more eligible to use the new version 8.2 for free. You can either download the old version 7.69w here (which will work with your unlock code), or you can order an update to Account Pro 8.2, or to Account Pro Lite 8.2, as you may require.

    Q: Where can I find the program version?

    A: Select 'Help'/'About Account Pro' from the main menu.

    Q: Is there any way I can set the date format from within the software?

    A: No. Account Pro uses the date format as set in Windows.

    Q: How do I uninstall the previous version without removing the data files?

    A: On the Windows desktop click on Start/Settings/Control Panel/AddRemove Software. Your data files will remain intact.

    Q: Currently I'm using the Account Pro 7.69 trial version and now I would like to purchase Account Pro 8.2, may I use my existing data on Account Pro 7.69 and transfer it to Account Pro version 8.2?

    A: Yes

    Q; We would like to know how to view as well as print out the balance sheet and income statement with more than one account level?

    A: You can create your own multi-level balance sheet and income statement under 'Options'/'User-defined...

    Q: What is the maximum amount that can be entered in a transaction?

    A: 99,999,999,999 (for integer amounts) or 999,999,999.99 (for real amounts).

    Q: Can you please tell me what the meaning is of "LM' in the "Account sums and balances" screen?

    A: "LM" means Last Movement (month of). That is the last month with a transaction.

    Q: I have installed Account Pro following the instructions, but when I start Account Pro my name is show in the main screen heading. Is it possible use our company name instead of my name?

    A: Since Account Pro version 8.2.391 the registration name does only appear on the 'About Account Pro' form. The Lite version still shows the name, however.

    Q: We want to use the same chart of accounts for 2002 as for 2001. How can we copy the chart from 2001 to 2002?

    A: Please click on 'Carry_over'/'Carry over ...' in the main menu.

    Q: My Spanish isn't good enough yet to learn the program, but at some point I will need to work in Spanish, and don't want to have to re-enter all the data. Is that possible?

    A: In Account Pro it does not matter in which language you work. You can switch between languages anytime. Of course, your transaction descriptions will not automatically be translated to other languages - but that would appear to be impossible anyway.

    Q: Please advise how I can generate a trial balance.

    A: There is no need for a trial balance in Account Pro. The program is so designed that the sum of all debit side entries will always match the sum of the credit side entries. Any trial balance check would therefore always give you the result 'OK'

    A: You can delete or change the header unter 'Structure'/'Accounting period'.
